Defining the Future of Bronzeville Retail Forum

Outcome and Results

Saturday May 21st 2011

The Bronzeville Alliance would like to thank all of the participants for attending the Retail Forum on May 21, 2011. The event was a great success! More than 80 residents, stakeholders and business owners were in attendance, along with 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell and 4th Ward Alderman Will Burns. Participants heard lessons learned on retail development from the Oak Park Development Corporation, reviewed past projects in the community, and weighed in on the Alliance’s proposed Retail Map for 43rd, 47th and 51st Streets. After breaking into four working groups and creating action plans, each group reported their next steps and voted to ratify the Retail Map. The forum concluded with a response from Aldermen Dowell and Burns.

We are pleased that many of our working groups are already off and running on their follow-up tasks. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress toward a Retail Land Use map in 2012.
